About
Pwo Kayin Theological Seminary was started as “The Kayin Women Bible School” in 1897 founded by American Baptist Missionary Mrs. Mary Brayton Rose. In 1935, this Bible School was handed over to the Pwo Kayin Baptist Conference and renamed “ The Pwo Kayin Bible Training School.” It was also known as “Pwo Kayin Seminary”. In 1997, the school was given a new name “Pwo Kayin Theological Seminary” one of the member schools of the Theological Education Department, Myanmar Baptist Convention, Association for Theological Education in Myanmar and Association for Theological Education in South East Asia. PKTS became an ATESEA accredited member school since 2010.
Our Vision
Pwo Kayin Theological Seminary equips servants through a theological curriculum of quality academics, practical Christian Service and guided Spirituality that nurtures Christ-like character leading to effectiveness in serving the church and community.
Our Purpose
The primary purpose of this Seminary is to instruct Pwo Kayin Men and Women with theological education to become leaders of Pwo Kayin Baptist Churches. Even though it is designated primarily for the Pwo Kayin people, the Seminary doesn’t confine itself to the ethnic minority and is open to all, who are willing to serve our Lord Jesus Christ and His Church.
Our Motto
Serve The Lord with Gladness (Psalms 100:2)
Our Core Values
Sole Authority of the Bible
We value a Theological curriculum that grounds students in accurate biblical teachings through academic quality that will give relevance in the context, in personal spiritual growth, and in Christian service ministry.Servant - Leadership
We value servant leadership that learns to serve the Lord Jesus Christ, His Church, and the world with a humble and joyful attitude, so that leadership in ministry clearly recognizes the worth of the whole creation.Obedience to the Great Commission
We value the obedience to the great Commission and living for the gospel through the church and thus acknowledge that the church is God's instrument in reaching the world, both locally and globally.Practice of integrity in a diverse community
We value serving with integrity grounded in the mindset of seeking unity in diversity, sustaining cultural heritage and tradition, and fostering a culture of peace through love and justice.
Our Mission Statement
As a graduate theological seminary in the Pwo Kayin Baptist tradition, in faithfulness to Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Great Commission, we expect to educate Christian leaders who desire:
Rigorous study in an ecumenical orientated Baptist Christian community, which embraces Baptist belief and practise with respect to other faith traditions, high academic, moral value and spirituality.
To devote oneself to the renewal of local churches in the light of the present situations and challenges.
